It's set in a part of BATTLWORLD (I don't know why I always all-caps that word) that has been all but completely destroyed by "the bugs" -- giant bug-like alien life forms that eat people. It's the story of Anwen and her family in the desolate post-apocalyptic landscape, trying to survive and evade these bugs. Her mom had left to join the Nova Corps in efforts to stop the bugs but it's been years and they haven't heard from her, or them, since.
Infinity Gauntlet #1
This first issued was following a day in Anwen's life when suddenly her family is attacked my these alien bugs. The group end up getting split up and Anwen loses her grandfather when he risks himself to save her.
Anwen ends up finding an infinity gem after killing a bug that was threatening her.
The first issue ends when Anwen, still separated from her family, is attacked again and just as it seems all is lost she is rescued by none other than her mom who arrives in full Nova gear.
What I liked?: Just about everything! It is a really captivating and endearing story thus far. I LOVE the art and I just think Anwen's mom is Phenomenal. I hope there is space for her in the post Secret Wars Marvel.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the art.
What I didn't like?: Can't think of anything.
I give it a 9/10
Infinity Gauntlet #2
In the second Issue of Infinity Gauntlet Anwen's mom, Eve, brings stars for her whole family to give them Nova training and Anwen reveals her discover of the infinity gem. Even the dog gets a star and becomes a Nova.
Training begins early as they are shortly attacked by another swarm of bug while, amidst this, there is some bickering and strife between Eve and her husband, understandably.
Eventually Eve figures how to use the gem -- the mind gem -- to fight the bugs. The family subsequently returns to the Nova Corps base only to find it completely distorted and everybody dead.
An infinity gem that was being held there in a gauntlet was also missing. In a reveal, the gem turned out to have been napped by Star-lord himself-- who had been long gone by then.
The issues ends with a flashforward to the future where Eve is fighting Thanos after he apparently killed her family. It appears Eve is about to dominate when Thanos uses the time gem to go back in time and kill his past self saying it's time they tried a new plan.
What I Liked?: Most of it. Just like the issue before it, issue two reals like a great comic; the plot is largely centralized at this point and it leaves me anticipating what's to come.
Dislikes? : Nothing that I can think of.
I give it an 8/10
